A residential recording studio designed and built by hand, from the ground up — where independent artists have tracked, mixed and mastered records for over a decade.
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Smash Happy Recordings is losing its studio space in the near future. This site exists to showcase what was designed and built here by hand — every wall, every cable run, every inch of it.
The last project undertaken here will be preserving the sound of this room itself — captured and modeled into a room-modeling plugin, in the spirit of Ocean Way and similar studio-capture tools, so the space can live on long after the building is gone.
From a Radioshack computer mic in a jam room to a Berklee Online Music Business & Technology certificate — earned with a Celebrity Scholarship from Grammy-winning mixer Ed Cherney — Paul has spent close to two decades chasing a better recording. Mike Battle brings his own two decades behind the board, drawn from touring bands and countless late-night sessions.
