The Studio

Designed and built by Paul and his team.

Kamloops, British Columbia — every wall, staircase and cable run in this room was built from the ground up.

What started as a converted space became a fully custom-built A-frame studio — reclaimed wood, vaulted ceilings, a hand-built staircase with cable railing, a dedicated control room and a live room built to actually record a band in. Nothing here was bought pre-made. It was framed, wired, treated and finished one weekend at a time.

Over the years this room has hosted full-band live tracking, vocal sessions, mixing and mastering for artists across Western Canada — and doubled as a place where friends showed up with guitars and stayed until 2am.

Losing the Studio

Due to unforeseen circumstances, this studio is being lost in the near future. That's part of why this page exists — to put on record what Paul and his team actually built here, without a contractor or a blueprint beyond what was in their heads.

The last project undertaken in this room will be preserving its sound: capturing an impulse response of the space itself and building it into a room-modeling plugin, in the same spirit as Ocean Way's studio-capture tools — so the acoustics of this specific room can outlive the building.

A Look Inside

The control room, the live room, the build.

Coming Soon

Recordings made in this room — and eventually, a plugin built from its acoustics — will live on the Artists Worked With page.
